Our Roots
Our journey began in 1994, in the heart of the historic market town of Ashby-de-la-Zouch, with the founding of Ashby Castle Day Nursery and Pre-preparatory School . Over the decades, our nursery has become a cherished part of the local community and beyond, welcoming families from across Leicestershire. With a dedicated team of over sixty early years professionals, we have been proud to support little ones from just six weeks to four years old in their first steps through life. Our Pre-Preparatory School has consistently been rated Outstanding by OFSTED, a testament to the dedication, skill, and commitment that every member of our team brings to their work. We’re proud of that recognition, but even prouder of the countless happy, confident children who’ve passed through our doors, fully prepared for the challenges of school.

Dumbles Forest School was born from our deep desire to take childhood learning beyond four walls, to let children experience the wonder of the woods, the joy of muddy puddles, and the magic of the natural world. It’s a place where stories are told under the canopy of trees, where resilience is built through outdoor adventures, and where curiosity is endlessly encouraged. We’re passionate about letting children be children, giving them the time, space and trust to discover their world at their own pace, in their own way.
